The Definition of Insanity...

Writer: Isaac KakoneIsaac Kakone

It’s that time of year again—we’re about to transmit our long-held aspirations into dazzling New Year’s Resolutions.

Sadly, once that optimism dies down, we realise that a few well-meant first attempts alone don’t make change happen.

Real change comes through a change in our behavior.

At a deep level, life is change.

It is being born, growing up and growing old.

It is the seasons coming and going.

It is beautiful and sad events – that bring an end to life as we knew it.

And yet, certain unhelpful, limiting, and painful habits remain.

We have the ability to transform our lives, by replacing old habits with new and better ones.

The healthier habits we put into action today can change our lives for the better.

But it takes conscious effort to transform.

Until we reflect on our behavioral patterns and until we develop the willingness to reach deep into our self-image and identity, change remains difficult.

The key is to start small and change your perspective.

A shift in perspective allows us to transcend our restricted versions of ourselves, to tap into something bigger, and perhaps even to let go of those habits and thoughts that makes change so very difficult.

The important thing to remember is that you are in the driver’s seat when it comes to your behavior.

You have all the tools you need to change your life!

I challenge you to find one behavior you can go to work on, change, strengthen, or improve.

What behavior do you have that is creating or exacerbating strife or stress?
